Freelancing Is a Lifestyle Decision

Hi Reader,

About a month ago, I flew to France for a business lunch.
At border control, I met another British pilot.

We started chatting, connected, and I asked if he wanted to exchange details and have a proper conversation sometime.
It turns out he’s the CEO of a very successful company.

This weekend, I flew to his house, landed in his garden, and we talked about potential projects we could work on together. 🤞

I’m not sharing this to brag.
I’m sharing it because it reminded me of something important:

Choosing to become a freelancer isn’t just a job decision. It’s a lifestyle decision.

When I was in full-time employment, this kind of thing simply wasn’t possible.
Not because employment is bad.
It isn’t.

Full-time jobs are great.
They give you structure, stability, a team, a framework, and a clear path.

But freelancing gives you something different:

  • It gives you the ability to do your own thing, in your own way
  • It gives you the ability to follow opportunities when they appear
  • It gives you the ability to design your work around the life you want, not just the other way around

A friend of mine just reached out and asked for advice. He wants to transition into freelancing.

I said:

“Of course. But before we speak, have a look at these resources first so we can make the conversation more useful”
