Nobody Knows What They’re Doing

Hi Reader,

Nobody knows exactly what they’re doing.
Some people are just better at hiding it.

Imposter syndrome is real: that feeling that you’re not truly qualified for your job, and that sooner or later, everyone will find out.

It affects people at every level – from university graduates to VPs and CEOs of major companies.
I know because I work with them.

Experience doesn’t necessarily make those feelings disappear.
But it can give you better tools for managing them.

One of the most useful is learning to recognise patterns.

When you can make a new problem look similar to one you’ve solved before, it stops feeling completely unfamiliar, and becomes much easier to tackle with confidence.

I spoke about how to do that here 👇

Most Data Professionals Avoid This Skill

Hi Reader, In a recent coaching call with a VP of Data, I asked them one question: If I asked your CTO to name one big win they'd attribute to you – what would they say? Their answer: I don't think they'd be able to give you any This is a high performing VP with an incredible track record, and are recognised as subject matter expert of their business. That's not unusual.
